I grew up in Cerknica, a small town near Lake Cerknica. The lake is connected to a series of subterranean reservoirs and caverns, which give it peculiar characteristics. In dry weather it can completely disappear. In rainy weather it can suddenly flood. In winter it freezes over. Each one of its forms creates a different atmosphere, which never ceases to impress me.
Watching the lake through seasons and years of my life has taught me the importance of staying connected to roots, and how reflection and understanding of the past can influence our present life.
This record was recorded over the course of two days, in the national radio studio in Maribor. We recorded nine pieces, but the ones chosen here best represent the feelings I wanted to create.
